Recently Jack Carlson, author of “Rowing Blazers,” shared his favorite boathouse interiors with us. Even more recently — Friday night, to be exact — I had drinks with Carlson at my favorite New York interior, the Player’s Club, whose walls are lined with a fantastic collection of images full of masculine panache.

We got so carried away there wasn’t time for any photos; Carlson was giving a lecture next door at the National Arts Club. Another time.

But in the spirit of rowing and boathouses, here’s an article that ran last week at Mr. Porter, a quick primer on rowing and Boathouse Row in Philadelphia that also includes a few pretty pictures.
