In Need Of Remasculinization

Earlier this week a real estate listing came by my desk here at MI headquarters. It’s for a property called Little Park, located on a street known as Gentleman’s Row in the London suburb of Enfield.

As you can see in the photos, it could use some remasculinization. Perhaps the new owner will fill it with suits of armor.

The property is listed at 2.8 million pounds. From the description:

Little Park is an outstanding Grade II listed historical detached family residence dating in parts back to Tudor times standing in gardens and grounds of approximately 1 acre with its own tennis court and heated swimming pool. Located in a highly secluded and sought after position within the conservation area, within easy reach of the town centre and main line stations. The spacious accommodation retains features from many periods in history with many rooms being of particular note.

Currently Little Park offers a blend of both character and contemporary finishes. Historical Note: The Tudor Room at Gentleman’s Row, complete with a stone fireplace which contains The Royal Arms with Lion and Dragon supporters and the initials E.R. (probably denoting Edward VI) the side boys have a crowned rose portcullis. This room was originally part of Enfield Palace, which is where Pearsons department store now stands. The late Queen Mary often visited Little Park. One visit on 27th February 1920, with Princess Mary (later the Princess Royal), is commemorated on an inscription.

The Tudor Lobby has a 16th century panelled door giving front access and a stained glass window depicting King Philip of Spain. In the wood panel dining room there is an Adam style fireplace complete with hand painted delft tiles denoting individual biblical scenes. The Billiard Room has a vaulted and beamed ceiling a period stone carved fireplace, antique radiators, cast iron grill, ornate dado rail and bay window with raised dais.
